Utilized for the transmission of oil and gas, carbon steel line pipe is fabricated using seamless steel, unaccompanied by connecting welds or junctures. Its seamless construction permits it to withstand elevated levels of pressure. Furthermore, the pipe exhibits a high degree of corrosion resistance, ideally suited for carrying aggressive fluids.

Forging a steel rod to a molten-hot 2,000 degrees Fahrenheit, the metal is put through a series of rollers, narrowing it in diameter. Cooling off thereafter, the rod is then sifted through dies to finally form the structural line pipe. Finishing off the construction, heat-treating reinforces this particular type of pipe’s strength and endurance.

To guard against corrosion, a layer of zinc is typically applied to the line pipe, ensuring it won’t be susceptible to wear and tear. This is then followed by a polyethylene wrapping, acting as another barrier to defend the pipe against potential abrasions.

After the line pipe has been prepared, it is placed in an underground trench and surrounded by soil. For added security, the trench is topped off with a concrete layer that safeguards against any potential harm. And just like that, the line pipe is all set for installation.

With the support of a few carefully-selected fittings, the line pipe provides an efficient conduit for transporting the selected fluid to its necessary destination. To ensure its dependable performance, it is then subjected to a rigorous pressure-testing process.

Once prepared, the line pipe is ready for deployment in a multitude of applications, the primary two being the transportation of oil and gas, but also the transit of other fluids, including water.
